A structured fast-start so new people managers don’t have to sink or swim.
Most first-time people managers get a handshake, a new title, and then they’re expected to work it out while real work keeps coming. That’s where avoidable risk shows up: unclear expectations, inconsistent standards, poor delegation, escalating issues, and a manager who ends up overwhelmed and still doing the old job.
First-Time People Manager Ramp-Up (90 Days) is a practical, structured program designed for people who are new to leading people — high-performing individual contributors promoted into supervision or team leadership.
Experienced managers who are new to the organisation
Senior leaders (Executive Coaching is a better fit)
Situations requiring formal performance management
This program runs over 90 days and includes 10 interactions:
4 x Coaching sessions (60 mins)
Deep work on judgement, leadership skill, decision-making, and installing routines.
4 x Accountability touchpoints (20–30 mins)
Short follow-ups to ensure action happens, remove blockers, and maintain momentum.
2 x Sponsor alignment touchpoints (30–45 mins)
One at the start to define success and expectations, and one at the end to review progress and lock in sustainment.
By the end of the first 90 days, the manager should be able to:
Run a weekly planning routine that drives priorities and reduces firefighting
Hold consistent standards and follow-through with their team
Effectively manage team productivity
Delegate with clarity and accountability (without rescuing or taking work back)
Understand their team’s KPIs and the drivers behind them
Build reliable relationships with key stakeholders through clarity and consistency
This program combines coaching with follow-through, because routines only stick when they are practised in real work.
At a glance: 10 interactions
4 coaching sessions (60 mins)
4 accountability touchpoints (15–20 mins)
2 sponsor touchpoints (30–45 mins)
Delivery: hybrid (online + in-person)
Flow
Align: sponsor success measures + role clarity + decision boundaries
Install routines: weekly planning, 1:1s/standards, delegation and follow-through
Embed + review: accountability touchpoints + Day 90 review (outcomes only, not session content)
Coaching conversations are confidential between coach and coachee. Sponsor involvement is structured around alignment and support, and progress is reviewed against agreed measures — not private session content.
(Full details are set out in the three-way coaching agreement.)
If you’ve promoted a strong operator into their first people manager role and you want the first 90 days to be structured, supported, and measurable, let’s talk.
In the fit call we will:
confirm whether this is the right product (or a different offer fits better)
clarify the sponsor’s Day 90 success measures
outline the likely routines and focus areas for the manager
confirm timing and delivery approach (online/in-person mix)
